In order to sustain our human activity, energy must be consumed. However, consuming energy not only causes global environmental problems such as energy resource depletion and global warming, but also local environmental problems such as urban heat island and air pollution. We (Narumi lab.) have been conducting the research and education to clarify how energy systems should be constructed and how literacy related to energy use should be in order to realize comfortable urban environment while preserving one precious earth. The characteristic of our research and education is for considering not only engineering aspects of energy related technologies, but also the integrated of arts and sciences, such as economic efficiency and human acceptability from the viewpoint of policy making.
